Referrals
Whoever points us to a family shares in the fee.
Most families reach us through someone who knows them — a neighbour, a former colleague, someone from the club. Where that becomes an engagement, we pass back part of our fee. The terms are set out here in full, including the cases where we may not pay at all.
What a referral is, and what it is not
A referral is a name and an occasion: a family with a house ahead of them, and the sense that calm guidance might help. Nothing more is needed. You do not have to persuade anyone, promise anything or obtain documents.
What a referral is not: not brokerage, not advice, not a commitment in our name. You do not act for us. And please do not pass on anyone without their knowledge — we only approach people who know about your referral and agree to it.
The terms
In plain words, no small print
From a notarised purchase price of 400,000 euros
Below that we pay nothing. The threshold is stated here so that nobody sets off with an expectation we will not meet.
Ten per cent of our net fee on the seller side
At a notarised purchase price of 400,000 euros that is around 1,119 euros. The share relates to our fee, not to the purchase price.
Paid out once the fee has been received in full
Not at signature, not at notarisation — only once our fee has actually arrived.
At most two referrals per person per year
We want neighbourliness, not a sideline trade. Anyone referring regularly needs their own licence.
Confirmed in writing beforehand
You receive written confirmation from us that your referral counts — before anything happens. No argument afterwards about who was first.
Who may not refer
For some professions such a payment is prohibited — and in two cases not only the recipient but we as payer commit an offence. That is why it stands here at the top and not in a footnote.
- Notaries — § 14 (4) BNotO.
- Public officials, for instance in administration, courts or guardianship authorities — §§ 331 and 333 StGB. Here the payer commits an offence too.
- Employees of other companies, where the referral relates to their work — § 299 StGB.
- Legal guardians for the person in their care.
- Lawyers, tax advisers, care support points and funeral homes — not because it is forbidden, but because our code forbids it to us: we never pay neutral referrers and never take anything from them.
If you belong to one of these groups your referrals are still welcome — simply without payment. For funeral homes, social services and notaries who refer collegially there is the page for advisers.
On tax: a payment to you is taxable for you. We withhold nothing and report nothing on your behalf; declaring it is your responsibility. We say so here because otherwise nobody does.
How to pass on a referral
Write to us using the form below. Give your name, how to reach you, and in two sentences who it concerns and why you thought of us. Please confirm in your message that the family knows about your referral and that you do not belong to any of the groups listed above.
We get back to you within two business days — to you first, not to the family. What comes of it is for the family alone to decide. Where it does not fit we say so openly; we are not the right address for every situation.
1 · Arrange a callback
One house, several heirs — and each of them sees it a little differently. That is normal, and not yet a dispute. You do not have to commit to anything here.
When someone dies, a house is left behind. And with it many questions nobody prepared for. You do not have to decide anything today, and you owe us no explanation.
A move into care rearranges a great deal, often faster than expected. The house can wait until you are ready. For now, simply tell us how to reach you.
A house that once fitted well can have become too large. Thinking about it is not yet a decision. We will simply listen first.
Sometimes there is no decision pending, only a question. You may ask it without anything having to follow from it.
